20 Mistakes You Probably Missed In Ghostbusters Movies

3. That€™s Not Negative Reinforcement, Peter

We€™re introduced to Peter Venkman as something of a ladies€™ man and trickster at the very start of the first film when it is shown that he€™s willing to do pretty much anything to score, including ruining an experiment he€™s running. He uses negative reinforcement to test his subjects, but the form his experiment takes is actually positive punishment, which is an entirely different form, and involves adding a stimulus to encourage behaviour, rather than removing one (which negative reinforcement does). But then, if you€™re splitting hairs, Venkman probably doesn€™t care for strict psychological terms, given that he€™s trying to get laid and reinforce his own masculinity.
