20 Most Annoying Movie Characters Since 2000
3. Anakin Skywalker
Portrayed By: Hayden Christensen
Appeared In: Star Wars: Attack of the Clones/Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Jake Lloyd's bowl-haired Anakin was just about bearable, but when Hayden Christensen took over the role, it was all hands on the cringe deck. Another brooding teen who upped the annoyance factor with constant issues blown way out of proportion - who has time to deal with that?
There was also the fact that the films seemed to forget the monumental age-gap and Anakin soon began awkwardly flirting with the equally annoying Padmé. He may have gone on to be the baddest bitch in the galaxy, but there was no excusing that Anakin was a punk-ass kid who basically spent two films disobeying his mentor.
All notions of becoming Vader were lost under his pining for Padmé, and you would be forgiven for thinking you were watching a romance film at times. His peak annoyance was that Anakin was just there to fill time until he slipped into that infamous black suit, and the script showed it. All of Attack of the Clones was basically a filler movie about a trip to a cloning factory...that Anakin didn't even go to. We were so excited to see the birth of Darth Vader, and the sooner Anakin burned up, the better.
