20 Most Anticipated 2017 Movies

What Is It? A long-rumoured, never-seriously-considered sequel to Ridley Scott's magnum opus is finally on the fiery horizon, with Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario, Arrival) calling the shots and a cast that just keeps getting better and better: Harrison Ford's back, joined by Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas and Jared Leto, among others.

When's It Out? 6th October

Why Will It Be Awesome? It's too bad it won't stay dead, but then again what does? The prospect of Blade Runner 2 was at first a highly unwelcome one, but everything about the film's development has hit the mark: if not Scott, they've got the best director for the job (based on everything so far and Arrival's early buzz, Villeneuve can do everything a Blade Runner film requires) and Ford back is ultimate endorsement.

Any Concerns? It's such an undertaking that even Villeneuve has said it's impossible for the film to live up to the original. And he's right; this could be 5* movie and still feel like a let-down. The big thing that needs addressing, however, is how to handle the ambiguity of whether Deckard's a replicant or not.
