20 Most Anticipated 2017 Movies
2. Star Wars Episode VIII
What Is It? I mean, to provide an explanation for this one feels a bit silly. It's the sequel to The Force Awakens, the movie that won 2015, with Rian Johnson showing Rey (Daisy Ridley) training under Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) plotting his revenge. Harrison Ford is oddly missing off the cast list.
When's It Out? 15th December
Why Will It Be Awesome? It's Star Wars Episode VIII. The last film this hyped so far in advance was Star Wars Episode VII. And Johnson, who really seems to have the right idea, described as handling the camera like Speilberg, has a much more fun job here; after J.J. Abrams did such a good job with the new cast in The Force Awakens, the hard part's done - we already love Rey, Finn, Poe and BB-8 (and hate Kylo), so now it's time to have fun in the sandbox.
Any Concerns? Hype and spoilers. Episode VII weathered the anticipation, but now people are accustomed to new Star Wars there's a bigger chance of disappointment, especially given how many of Abrams' unanswered questions Johnson has to deal with. Then there's the fact that this time around everyone seems pretty chill about doling out rumours and set leaks without spoiler tags, meaning all the big surprises could be ruined ahead of time.
