19. The ABC's Of Death 2 (2014)
The first collection of horror shorts was a spectacularly hit and miss affair with at least two thirds of the films being pretty awful. There were some really strong pieces though including Marcel Sarmientos D is for Dogfight, Adam Wingards Q is for Quack and Ernesto Diaz Espinozas C is for Cycle. Unfortunately, we also had to sit through F is for Fart, H is for Hydro-Electric Diffusion and L is for Libido. This new collection follows the same structure as the first film and directors include The Mighty Booshs Julian Barratt, Cube and Hannibal series director Vincenzo Natali and The Soska Sisters. Initial reports suggest this also has the same amount of terrible segments as the first film but any horror fan likes these anthology horrors because there is a chance of catching some hidden gem, and so it may seem here. Early reviews suggest F is for Falling, which follows a Jewish female solider as she parachutes into Arab territory, Robert Boochecks M is for Masticate a single shot POV of a man running down a street attacking bystanders and Marvin Krens apparently brilliant World War II period piece Russian Roulette, are particularly strong. Heres hoping these gems, and a few others, can at least part-rescue this interesting but flawed anthology series.
