Ari Aster's Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau Is Afraid have one major thing in common - they were among the most talked about horror movies of the year.
As a result, things are already promising for his latest work, a contemporary western called Eddington. The impending film centres around a couple, Lindsay and Marc, driving through New Mexico when they run out of gas. Looking for assistance in a nearby town, the two are welcomed by the friendly residents. But over time, Lindsay and Marc realise their lives are in danger.
Interestingly, Eddington was intended to be Aster's first film before he ultimately settled on Hereditary. After the COVID-19 outbreak, the horror auteur was inspired to give Eddington another shot, believing the story would work better if it took place during the pandemic.
The cast will be headlined by some real raw talent, including Austin Butler, Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, and Joaquin Phoenix, who previously collaborated with the director on Beau Is Afraid. Although little else has been given away, it can be assumed by Aster's track record that Eddington will contain one or two images that will haunt audiences indefinitely.
