If the Halloween franchise absolutely must continue, then at least director David Gordon Green and co-writer Danny McBride seem like a firm creative team to get the job done.

As a follow-up to 2018's flawed-but-refreshing sequel to the 1978 original, Halloween Kills needs to organically continue the events of the previous film while plausibly justifying its own existence.

From the most recent trailer, it seems like the movie is remixing the series' prevailing formula, focusing on Myers rampaging his way across the entire neighbourhood of Haddonfield, all while a lynch mob forms to try and take him down.

In addition to practically every surviving character returning, the first film's characters Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) and Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards) are also back, ensuring Halloween Kills should feel more like a family affair than any other sequel.

Halloween Kills releases on October 15.
