Ginger Snaps is a really interesting Canadian horror film which uses the traditional werewolf storyline as a metaphor for puberty. Ginger and her sister Brigitte hate the idea of getting older, making a pact when they were younger to kill themselves before they turn 16. But then Ginger gets bitten by a werewolf which results in her body going through all sorts of weird changes and mood swings, creating a huge rift between the two sisters.

At first everyone just thinks Ginger's behavior is a result of her getting her first period, not the fact that she's literally turning into a werewolf. But Ginger gets to be a total badass throughout the movie as she's adjusting to her new body. In one great scene, she's having sex with a guy who tells her to lie back and relax and says, "Who's the guy here?" But she's not having any of that.

She becomes the villain of the movie, but you still really sympathize with Ginger, as everything she's doing is mostly beyond her control. You shouldn't exactly be rooting for Ginger to kick ass and kill people, but Katharine Isabelle is just so charismatic in the role that it's sometimes hard not to.
