20 Most Controversially Violent Films Ever Made

13. Murder Set Pieces (2004)

20.02.2013MSP In order to qualify as a film, a movie must have a plot and well rounded characters. Murder Set Pieces does not have any of these. It is about a photographer who takes pictures of women and kills them. That is it. It is hardly surprising the BBFC will not give the film a certificate. It is pure torture for the sake of it - and not particularly well executed torture at that. Woman after woman is dispatched of on the screen by our German speaking killer. Albeit they are sexy women and that is what this film will be known for - top class totty. However the director is far from as smart as he thinks he is - inadequately establishing a motive for the killings and just presenting killing after killing in a mechanical way until it becomes a great big yawn. Yes, it is ultraviolent but if you stick up for this piece of crapola and defend it, I will be seriously worried about the state of your IQ.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
