20 Most Cringe-Worthy One-Liners In Movie History
4. "To Live Forever..." - House Of The Dead
Uwe Boll's House of the Dead is an absolute dumpster fire of a movie from start to finish, but it's never as mind-meltingly awful as when villainous zombie-priest Castillo Sermano captures a poor sap, who bizarrely asks him, "You created it all so you could be immortal. Why?"
Sermano's absolutely reasonable response? "To live forever." This is just awful screenwriting 101. For starters, do you really need to ask the baddie why he wants to be immortal? Is it not self-evident?
Moreover, Sermano's totally po-faced response just reeks of both bad acting and direction. Perhaps had Boll told the actor in question to give the guy a more sarcastic reply, it wouldn't have sounded so awful. As it stands, though, it's probably one of the most horrendous lines to ever make its way into a theatrically-released movie (yes, this actually came out in cinemas).
