20 Most Cringe-Worthy One-Liners In Movie History
3. "Never Leave The Cave Without It" - Batman & Robin
Arnie's ice puns are bad enough, but they're still not the worst thing in Batman and Robin. No, that honour is reserved for the weird auction scene for Poison Ivy, which sees the titular superheroes entering a bidding war over her.
Bats bids $5 million, at which point Robin tells him, "That's a utility belt, not a money belt. $6 million", and Batman replies by one-upping him with a $7 million bid, while pulling out a...Bat...credit...card, which director Joel Schumacher holds on for a few seconds (showing a Mastercard knock-off called GothCard, with is "Good thru forever", as in Batman Forever).
It all ends with the worst line of all, "Never leave the cave without it", obviously a riff on the classic Mastercard phrase, "Never leave home without it." Aside from being legendarily tacky product placement, it's exactly the sort of thing nobody asked for in a Batman movie. Just...no.
On the plus side, George Clooney will refund the ticket money of anyone who paid to see Batman and Robin in cinemas, so that's nice.
