While horror fans often cite The Cabin In The Woods as the most effective satirical swipe at the slasher genre, the Hatchet series deserves a mention for the grotesquely over the top ways in which each victim is dispatched. Picking a favourite death scene from Hatchet isn't easy, but the moment when housewife Shannon tries to flee from Victor Crowley is one which horror fans cherish. First she has to watch him hack her husband into pieces, cutting him almost in half from the shoulder down. Shannon turns and starts running away but she isn't fast enough for the kill - he catches up to her and grabs her by the jaw, then literally tears her face into half.
