Chilean-born Gaspar Noé is arguably the most controversial director working today - while there are plenty of directors of schlocky horror who have a knack for depicting on-screen carnage, Noé's serious-minded approach makes his violence far more disturbing. When Marcus and Pierre (Vincent Cassel and Albert Dupontel) finally catch up with the man they believe beat and raped their friend Alex (played by Monica Belucci), Pierre grabs the nearest thing to hand - a fire extinguisher - and uses it to smash the man's head into a pulp. It's an unforgettable scene which lingers in the mind long after watching the film, each blow raining down on the prone man and smashing his face until he becomes barely recognisable as a human being. Noé blends practical effects and CGI seamlessly, and few films in the history of cinema have gone to such painstaking lengths to shock and disgust the audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MitumC0mjDo&oref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DMitumC0mjDo&has_verified=1
