Firewatch is easily one of the year's most talked-about video games, a so-called "walking simulator" in which the player, a park ranger, investigates bizarre activity in Wyoming's Shoshone National Forest. The less you know about the plot, the better.
Well, it was confirmed in September that the indie game is getting a movie adaptation, with the game's developers, Campo Santo, partnering with production company Good Universe (Neighbors, The Night Before).
This is an especially alluring announcement, as while it makes sense for more familiar genre pieces like Gears of War to be turned into movies, Firewatch is a little harder-to-place, and translating it to the screen will require a sure lightness of touch.
Either way, it'll be intriguing to see how the final product turns out.
