By the early ’70s, the “Godfather of Gore,” Herschell Gordon Lewis was competing with the burgeoning hardcore porn market in the Grindhouses, so he really had to pull out all of the stops to get his films an audience. This time, it was extreme, sadistic, over the top gore of such a magnitude, it has rarely been matched in the annals of cinema.

The Gore Gore Girls follows a detective on the trail of a serial killer who is murdering strippers in a most egregious fashion. This includes a stripper having her rear end pounded to shreds with a meat tenderiser, another having her nipples cut off while milk squirts all over the place, and a particularly gruesome scene where one gets her face deep fried in a pan of oil.

The Gore Gore Girls is an irreverent slap in the face of all the copycat filmmakers who thought they could out-massacre the master. Lewis proved once and for all that while some may have done it better, or cheaper, or more realistically, no one did it with more passion or perverse pleasure.
