Release Date: May 27, 2016 Alice Through The Looking Glass, this year's incredibly expensive sequel to 2011's admittedly rubbish Alice in Wonderland, is fully primed and geared to suck up the world's collective money supply in exhaustive amounts: it's the sort of film that nobody really knows why they want to see it, but will rush out to do so anyway. Which means that, despite everything that it's bound to do wrong as a slice of cinema, Alice Through the Looking Glass is still anticipated in all the ways that every huge tentpole Disney movie is anticipated - whether it deserves to be or not. Johnny Depp is back as the Mad Hatter, of course, this time to do battle with an even more insufferable character in the form of "Time," played by British funnyman and former Ali G actor Sasha Baron Cohen. But there might be another reason to anticipate this movie: it has at least been directed by James Bobin, the man responsible for Flight of the Conchords and the rebooted Muppets movie, which means there's a chance this sequel could at least be better than the first.
