18. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny
Release Date: February 26, 2016 A truly unexpected sequel if ever there was one, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is set to unveil later this month - presumably as part of Netflix's plan to break the Asian market. Whilst the rest of the planet is rightly baffled with regards to why this is even a thing, one can't deny it as a curiosity of the highest order. Still, it starring Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh, who reprises her role as Yu Shu Lien, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 appears to have all the makings of a modern wuxia classic. Which is to say that, like its critically-acclaimed predecessor (directed by Ang Lee), it's all artful swordplay and gliding through the trees. Sometimes a belated sequel can surprise you in a positive way, and there's a chance that Sword of Destiny could give a good name to follow-ups of the overdue kind. It does have one of the greatest fight choreographers of all-time, Yuen Woo-ping, as its director, after all. Remember all that cool sh*t in The Matrix and Kill Bill? That was Yuen Woo-ping, ya'll!
