20 Most Hotly-Anticipated Movie Sequels Coming In 2016
17. Bridget Jones's Baby
Release Date: 16 September, 2016 Rejoice, Bridget Jones fans: a third and presumably final movie has been made possible via the return of Renee Zellweger, who has come back from the abyss - with a brand new face, mind you - to conclude the story of everybody's favourite frumpy British woman. Bridget Jones's Baby was talked up for a long time, and now an unexpected (but still welcomed sequel) has actually found its way into production. Given that the movie has been co-written by the wonderful Emma Thompson, original author Helen Fielding and acclaimed novelist David Nichols, there's a sense that this might actually be a pretty great movie. That's a lot of talent on script duties, after all, and it's in the script department that a movie of this sort lives or dies. It helps that Sharon Maguire, who directed the original film, is back behind the camera, too, and that Colin Firth will also reprise his role. No Hugh Grant, though, which is a big disappointment, but hey... there's Patrick Dempsey to, uh, make up for that?
