20 Most Iconic Monster Introductions In Movie History

7. The Great White Shark - Jaws

Summer blockbusters just wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for Steven Spielberg - in fact, it's possible that the summer blockbuster phenomenon wouldn't exist at all were it not for his first big hit, Jaws. This is the film which started it all, and it's as great today as it was back in 1975. Spielberg had already demonstrated that he understood the principles of tension in his TV movie Duel, but with Jaws he refined it to perfection, crafting scene after scene of rising tension as the audience waited in dread for the shark's next attack. The fact that its first proper introduction - as Chief Brody chucks bait into the sea - is almost casually shot makes it all the more surprising. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I91DJZKRxs
