20 Most Iconic Villain Introductions In Movie History
9. Colonel Hans Landa - Inglorious Basterds
Another actor to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the role of a villain also happens to be another actor for whom English isn't his first language - Christoph Waltz's exceptional turn in Inglorious Basterds as Hans Landa - also known as The Jew Hunter - is every bit as powerful as Javier Bardem's in No Country For Old Men. Landa's opening scene sits at the very beginning of the movie and captures the essence of his twisted personality perfectly - Landa may be a vicious mass murderer but he carries out his loathsome acts with an air of refinement and pleasantries which makes him seem all the more dangerous. Inglorious Basterds might be one of Quentin Tarantino's more uneven films, but one thing isn't in any doubt - Waltz steals every scene he's in, hands down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfSjs_6MZOQ
