20 Most Influential Actors Of All Time
3. Olivia De Havilland
Dame Olivia de Havilland has just celebrated her 104th birthday, and it would feel wrong to not include her on this list.
Her career spanned 53 years (1935 to 1988) and she was one of the leading figures of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Her on screen pairing with Errol Flynn, which saw the production of eight films, is one of cinema's most successful partnerships, and for her roles she won two Academy Awards out of five nominations and starred in some of the most iconic films ever made.
Her most famous roles include Captain Blood, The Charge of the Light Brigade, The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Snake Pit, amongst others, but her most iconic role was in Gone with the Wind, in which she starred as Melanie Hamilton and was nominated for an Oscar.
Outside of Gone with the Wind, her most successful genre was romantic-comedies, in which she displayed a natural ability to blend comedy with the dramatic, and portrayed some wonderful and scene-stealing characters. She has been honoured for her services to drama in every possible way, from Damehood to Medal of Arts, and she deserves every honour she gets.
