20 Most Outrageously Violent Movies Since 2000

13. Rambo

It's difficult to argue with the fact that the 1980s was the best decade for violent action movies aimed squarely at adults. You only have to compare the great movies of the time - Robocop, Total Recall, Predator et al - to their PG-13 remakes and sequels in more recent years to see just how far down the quality ladder mainstream Hollywood has gone. While the 2000s might have seen many great 80s franchises ruined by studio greed this certainly can't be said for Sylvester Stallone's latest instalment of the Rambo series. Entitled simply Rambo, this is a return to form for the action movie with a bullet - and body - count equal to the great action movies which first made Stallone a household name. Forget the Expendables movies - Rambo is a true testament to the kind of action cinema Hollywood has largely forgotten how to do well.
