20 Most Rewatchable Horror Movies Of All Time

10. Carrie (1976)

The Shining Jack Nicholson
United Artists

Of all the Carrie movie adaptations, Brian De Palma’s 1976 version is the only one worth watching. It’s as much of a tragedy as it is blood-curdling. The story captures the sadness of a girl’s teenage life as she goes through school being tormented and bullied. After she unleashes her telekinesis powers, it becomes a tale of revenge.

Sissy Spacek will always be the definitive and only Carrie, even with the sequels and remakes. You really empathise with her character as she deals with loneliness and isolation both at school and at home.

The film is more than just a teenage drama - it has themes of religious extremism as well as being a parable on the fears of female adolescence. Plus, Carrie is home to many distinctive movie scenes, namely the nightmarish “they’re all gonna laugh at you” prom.
