20 Most Rewatchable Horror Movies Of All Time

18. Frankenstein (1931)

The Shining Jack Nicholson
Universal Pictures

For a film that’s edging towards 100 years old, Frankenstein is better than most of today’s modern movie offerings. It’s one that has been referenced, imitated, recreated and mimicked over the years but none of them hold a candle to the original.

There are some gorgeous set pieces and impressive make-up designs to relish within Frankenstein, paired with James Whale's direction which transformed the novel to into a more violent plot. The atmosphere is haunting, the score is evocative and Boris Karloff engrosses himself into Frankenstein’s monster so well, you almost believe the living being could be real. It also begs the pivotal question: who is the real monster – the creature or the man who created him?

Small aspects of the film may be slightly dated, such as the acting and scripting, but it doesn't matter too much because they've added a certain layer of charm to James Whale's classic halloween flick.
