20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2017

12. Transformers: The Last Knight

Transformers 5 Last Knight
Paramount

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 16%

While there's nothing remotely surprising about a Transformers movie scoring predominantly negative reviews, it is pretty unexpected that the fifth movie was the worst-reviewed of the series, with the prior entries scoring 57%, 19%, 35% and 18% respectively.

Considering that The Last Knight seemed to embrace its silliness more, with a plot revolving around Merlin and Nazis, while Anthony Hopkins joined the cast and the usual nubile female lead was replaced with an underaged actress Michael Bay couldn't perv over, it seemed like The Last Knight would at least score somewhere in the 25% region.

Is this really worse than Revenge of the Fallen and Age of Extinction? Absolutely not, but clearly critics are simply exhausted with the series by this point, so it's hard to blame their summary dismissal of the movie all that much.
