16. They're Behind You! - The Birds (1964)

They launch a series of violent attacks upon the locals. The scariest moment comes when Melanie is sitting on a bench obliviously smoking a cigarette as a great big murder of crows congregates around her. Hitchcock really builds up the tension til it's knicker wettingly charged. And the poor wee school bairns have to flee the birds' attack which makes for further scares for the viewer.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
