7. Mufasa's Ridiculous Death - The Lion King

It's no secret at all that Mufasa (James Earl Jones) is murdered by his brother Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor) in The Lion King, though how the sequence played out in the big-budget "live action" remake exemplified the single major problem with the entire movie.

The big issue is that the film's visuals are too photorealistic for their own good, restricting the expressiveness of the actors performing the parts and, therefore, the characters themselves.

As such, watching Mufasa fall off the cliff in slow motion while James Earl Jones lets out a prolonged scream just looks comical.

It's all the more daft when the film tries to pull off an updated version of Simba's iconic pained scream, complete with the famous zoom-out that looks far goofier in "realistic" form than animated.

Given that this is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the last quarter-century of animation, that the remake's version actually left people laughing is the most damning indictment of its artistic failure.
