David Lowery's The Green Knight is another one of those movies where basically every scene is its own WTF moment, but the one scene that proved more bizarre and unexpected than the rest?

The sticky, icky sequence where Sir Gawain (Dev Patel) is seduced by the Lady (Alicia Vikander), resulting in a quick-and-dirty below-the-belt fumble that leads to a messy climax for Gawain.

And because Lowery wants to spare us no detail, he lingers on an up-close shot of the Lady wiping the resulting discharge on Gawain's hand and also the magical green girdle which prevents him from coming to harm.

Such frank depictions of sex and especially bodily fluid are extremely rare in cinema, and especially in hallucinatory fantasy films adapted from classic 14th-century literature. But we wouldn't have it any other way.
