19. Diana Eats Her Pearls - Spencer
Spencer is one of the most fascinatingly, uniquely unsettling films of the year, fashioned less as a traditional biopic of Princess Diana (Kristen Stewart) than a low-key horror movie depicting the crushing anxiety of her day-to-day life.
This reaches an unnerving apex during the unforgettable Christmas Eve dinner sequence, where Diana imagines herself removing the iconic pearl necklace given to her by Charles (Jack Farthing), letting the pearls drop into her soup, and then eating the soup-covered pearls.
As a surreal depiction of both the brutal pressure of royal "duty" and Diana's struggles with bulimia, it's a stirringly effective scene, albeit one that may have been too much for unsuspecting viewers expecting a more straight-forward Diana biopic. Love it or hate it though, it's totally unforgettable.
