The Film

Back in 2013, Hollywood decided to commit sacrilege openly by optioning a remake of the seminal Patrick Swayze doorman movie Road House. At latest count, Ronda Rousey was attached to take over from Swayze's role, and Nick Cassavetes is set to write and direct, but he seems to be taking his sweet time about it.

Is It A Good Idea?

Some classics should remains untouchable, and it's not always because they were great in the first place. Road House was a particularly 1980s film, tied completely to its contemporary period, and the idea of a film centred on a bouncer in a rough backwater bar cleaning the place up is terribly dated now.

The unfortunate thing is, there's probably a lot of temptation to change the story to accommodate for that datedness, and the result would have to be so far away from the original that it wouldn't look anything like it. To the point that calling it Road House would just be odd.
