20 Movie Scenes That Are Totally Flawless

19. The Halo Jump - Mission: Impossible Fallout (2018)

In terms of sheer action-packed insanity, the Mission: Impossible franchise is an IP that simply gets better with each instalment, and a lot of that is down to the stunt-happy genius of star Tom Cruise.

Love him or hate him, Cruise's passion behind-the-scenes of his movies is remarkable, allowing him to learn how to pilot a helicopter for a major chase, scale the Burj Khalifa, or - as is the case with Fallout's most ridiculously impressive scene - perform a HALO jump 106 times for the franchise's most daring action sequence.

In the first act of the film, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and Agent Walker (Henry Cavill) have to leap from a plane 25,000 feet above ground in hopes of interrupting an arms deal in a Paris nightclub. During the jump, the pair are struck by lightning and the sound of the scene is distorted, adding an extra layer of intensity to the whole spectacle.

A frightening scene of remarkable complexity, Fallout's HALO jump is the franchise's most insane stunt yet, and makes for an action set piece unlike any other.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
