20 Movie Scenes That Are Totally Flawless
13. Copacabana - Goodfellas (1990)
To be honest, this entire article could have been about the multitude of great scenes in Goodfellas, from that iconic opening to the final fate of Tommy (Joe Pesci), but for this list focus has to fall on Martin Scorsese's one-shot masterstroke as gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) takes his future wife Karen (Lorraine Bracco) to the Copacabana nightclub.
From the moment they step out of the car to when they finally get seated inside, Scorsese follows the pair as they make their way through the back of the restaurant, with Henry revelling in his popularity, greeting old friends and getting everything he wants effortlessly handed him without question.
Aside from being incredibly satisfying to watch - between the camerawork and The Crystals' tune "Then He Kissed Me" playing over it - the scene also works wonders to showcase the glamorous, seductive nature of Henry's dangerous lifestyle, which has consumed his ego and will soon overcome even Karen's more sensible impulses.
