20 Movie Scenes That Should've Been Cut
1. The Wild Boar Attack - The Strangers - Chapter 2
There's admittedly a firm argument to be made that The Strangers - Chapter 2 could've just been erased from human endeavour entirely, because this slasher sequel has so little meat on its bones while actively undermining the very point of the original.
But there's one puzzling mid-film sequence which sticks out like a sore thumb, enough that you might actively assume it was included only to pad the runtime past the 90-minute mark.
While fleeing the titular masked attackers, protagonist Maya (Madelaine Petsch) ends up in the woods, where she's attacked by - wait for it - a wild boar released by one of the Strangers.
Cue a maddeningly overlong sequence in which Maya attempts to evade the boar by hiding in a car, before finally being forced to do battle with it and eventually stabbing it to death.
Now, for a mere $8.5 million movie the CGI boar actually looks pretty passable, but what the hell is a boar fight doing in a movie about masked serial killers?
Given that the film had reshoots following the response to Chapter 1, it wouldn't be remotely surprising if this scene was added in as a desperate effort to give audiences more bang for their buck.
But ultimately all it does is make a miserable, creatively bankrupt sequel even harder to take seriously while feeling like even more of a slog.
