20 Movie Scenes That Should've Been Cut

The First Omen is one of the most surprisingly good horror prequels ever - a film nobody was asking for, and yet it's so well made and brilliantly acted that it ultimately justified its own existence.

It also laudably resists the urge to over-indulge in fan service for the most part, save for one mid-film sequence which nods a little too eagerly to one of the most iconic sequences from the original 1976 movie.

One of the nuns at the orphanage, the disturbed Sister Anjelica (Ishtar Currie-Wilson), climbs out onto a high ledge while many of the orphanage's children are watching from below.

She then looks down at protagonist Margaret (Nell Tiger Free) and says, "It's all for you," before setting herself on fire and hanging herself from the balcony.

This is obviously an homage to the similar sequence from the original Omen where Damien's nanny (Holly Palance) says the very same phrase before hanging herself in front of a group of children.

Sure, the scene is an early indication that Margaret has been impregnated with the diabolic child who will eventually become Damien, but in a film that otherwise felt "above" blatantly rehashing classic moments from the original text, it was a little much.

Considering how impressively inventive the rest of the movie is, why not come up with a different way for Anjelica to perish in service of Damien?
