20 Movie Sequels That Start Immediately After The First

The Chris Hemsworth-starring action thriller Extraction concluded on a somewhat ambiguous note as hero Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) completed his mission - of saving an Indian drug lord's kidnapped son - but became mortally wounded in the process. 

In the closing moments, Tyler falls into a river and his fate is left totally up in the air. 

It certainly would've been a fittingly heroic, sacrificial end for Tyler, though considering the film's strong ratings on Netflix and the streamer's swift announcement of a sequel, it was hardly a surprise to anyone that he actually survived.

And indeed, Extraction 2 picks up basically moments after Tyler takes a tumble into the drink at the first film's conclusion, as his unconscious body washes up on shore and he's airlifted from Dhaka to Mumbi for medical treatment, with his life of course ultimately being saved.

The only real downside of this is that much of Extraction 2's first act then focuses on Tyler being rehabbed back to health, so it's almost 30 minutes before audiences get to see Hemsworth kicking ass once again.
