20 Movie Sequels That Start Immediately After The First
6. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
Paul W.S. Anderson's Alien vs. Predator wasn't particularly good, but at least it ended with one hell of a crowd-pleasing sequel bait cliffhanger, as the body of Predator Scar (Ian Whyte) is suddenly chestbursted by a Predator-Xenomorph hybrid known by fans as a Predalien.
How could anyone not want to see the outcome of that?
And so, sequel Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem wastes no time at all by resuming from the very moment that the Predalien hatches from Scar.
After this it matures into an adult in basically record time - because who cares about the consistency of life cycles at this point in the franchise? - and starts slaughtering the Predators onboard the ship carrying it, in turn causing the ship to crash-land on Earth, bringing humanity into the fray.
Requiem is by no means a good sequel, but at least it had the sense to immediately pick up the one dangling thread from the first film that actually made folk interested in seeing the next one.
