Adam Green's cult classic slasher film Hatchet ends with Marybeth (Tamara Feldman) and Ben (Joel David Moore) apparently killing serial murderer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder).

However, in the slasher tradition of course he comes back for one last scare, seemingly killing Ben and attacking Marybeth in the swamp, but before we can see the final outcome of this confrontation, the film abruptly cuts to black as Marybeth screams.

Green evidently has a sense of humour about this sudden stop in Hatchet II, which cuts back into this moment just as abruptly as we last left it, where Marybeth manages to get free from Victor's grasp and escape - for now.

Much as the sequel effortlessly picks up from where the first concluded, original Marybeth actress Tamara Feldman opted not to return for Hatchet II - with Green later calling her "difficult" - so the part was recast with Halloween star Danielle Harris carrying the role forward for the next three movies.
