Though indifferently received by critics and audiences alike, fantasy-comedy Hocus Pocus has become a cult phenomenon since its 1993 release, largely thanks to home video releases and its status as a perennial on TV channels around the globe.
Over the last decade, discussions of a sequel or spin-off have periodically done the rounds, and in October 2019, Hocus Pocus 2 was formally confirmed as - you guessed it - a direct-to-Disney+ release.
Adam Shankman will direct a screenplay from Jen D'Angelo (Workaholics), while the three leads Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are all set to return.
With the film in pre-production at present and likely to shoot later this year, a Halloween 2022 release seems totally on the money.
