20 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2022
13. Escape Room 2
Escape Room is a horror film that came and went at the start of 2019 without leaving much of a trace, but it nevertheless rustled up a ludicrous $155 million worldwide against a mere $9 million budget.
Between this and its absurd sequel-baiting ending, a follow-up was always going to happen, and was announced mere weeks after the first film hit cinemas.
Even so, word on the sequel's production went oddly quiet thereafter, despite the fact that it actually wrapped shooting back in January 2020, with director Adam Robitel and leads Taylor Russell and Logan Miller returning.
The film's release date has been pushed numerous times, from April 2020 to January 2021, and most recently an entire year to January 7, 2022.
Clearly, Sony doesn't want to risk the pandemic devouring the film's box office potential, even if it's safe to say that audiences may well have lost interest in Escape Room as an IP by the time it finally hits cinemas.
