19. The Lobster
Release date: March 24th What's it about? A very unusual-sounding science fiction entry to 2015's releases, The Lobster stars Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Ben Whishaw and John C. Reilly and concerns a futuristic scenario in which lonely people are forced to attend a hotel for 45 days and find a mate - failure sees them transformed into animals and sent out into the woods. What makes it award-worthy? Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos certainly has prior form for unusual and surreal movies, with Dogtooth proving to be one of the strangest and at the same time engaging oddities released in recent years. With a strong cast on board and a spring release date, don't be surprised if this crops up at a few film festivals hunting down awards.
