20 Movies That Took HUGE Risks (And NAILED It)

14. Having (Almost) No Dialogue - No One Will Save You

There's a good reason why most film scripts are primarily composed of dialogue - it's the easiest way to convey a story to the audience.

And so 2023's sci-fi horror film No One Will Save You took quite the gamble when writer-director Brian Duffield decided to have the alien invasion story unfold with barely any dialogue at all.

In fact, only five words are spoken on-screen throughout the 93-minute runtime, and while this could've easily resulted in a tedious experience in lesser hands, between both Duffield and star Kaitlyn Dever, it absolutely works.

Duffield has a keen eye for suspenseful set-pieces and Dever manages to invest the audience in her predicament through the sheer physicality of her performance, exposition be-damned.

While some might wish that the end product had a little more meat on its bones, by and large it got away with visual storytelling propelled forward by a terrific central turn.
