Though the Halloween franchise has been plundered and pillaged for years now, between the dreadful Halloween: Resurrection and Rob Zombie's two reboots all but killing the franchise, it's found salvation, strangely enough, in the hands of comedian Danny McBride.

Alongside director David Gordon Green, the duo have spent the past few years crafting a Halloween movie that lives up to the seminal original. With the blessing of John Carpenter (who's even returning to score the movie), the new flick is disregarding all but the first film in the series, acting as a direct continuation that picks up 40 years after Michael Myers' initial killing spree.

The reveal trailer has ushered in a whole new wave of confidence as well, with the movie set to be not only be a long-overdue return to form for the iconic slasher, but one of the best horrors of the year.
