Though it probably won't release worldwide until 2019, Damien Chazelle's Neil Armstrong biopic will hit American theatres on the 12th of October, no doubt in the hope of capitalising on the late release window that has benefitted similar sci-fi films in the past, as well as to hit the sweet spot of awards season consideration.

With an impressive first trailer recently released, Chazelle's follow up to La La Land looks like an entirely new challenge for the director, taking a larger-than-life story and attempting to imbue it with the pathos that's elevated the rest of the director's work so far. He's already proven a command over form and aesthetics like few others in the industry, and all eyes are on how he's going to bring this well-known story to life on the big screen.

Of course, the director isn't the only reason to get excited, with Ryan Gosling looking to chase that leading-man Oscar with his performance as the first man to walk on the moon. Also, it's simply going to be exciting to see how Chazelle crams in his jazz obsession into a space-age drama.
