20 Movies That Will Kick Ass In 2018

18. The Predator

The Predator
Fox

Though it's not the first time that Fox has tried to reboot the Predator series, Shane Black's take on the iconic alien hunter has all the hallmarks of being their greatest attempt yet.

The director himself is known primarily for his subversive tendencies - a trait which has made him unsurprisingly divisive, especially with comic-book lovers - but it's clear that he adores this franchise and universe, and is attempting to give fans an instalment that both respects yet deviates from the regular formula.

Giving the new movie a more down-to-Earth feel (quite literally) by bringing the Predators into the suburbs, Black's genetically-upgraded villains look more dangerous than ever, pitted against a sprawling cast of character actors that'll ground the movie in the same authentic human relationships that all the director's projects thrive on.

It will undoubtedly be divisive, but given Black's history with creating technically-tight action movies and always striving for subversion, it should hopefully be more noteworthy than any of Fox's recent franchise instalments.
