20 Movies That Will Kick Ass In 2018

19. Creed II

The original Creed had no right to be anywhere near as good as it was. Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan transformed what could have been a simple cash-in on an ageing franchise into a genuinely great sporting drama that worked as a standalone movie as well as the seventh instalment in a series, with a sequel being greenlit almost immediately after the flick hit theatres.

Unfortunately, it hasn't been smooth sailing for the follow up so far. Not only did Coogler opt to not return, but the sequel's new director, none other than star Sylvester Stallone, also stepped down, with a third filmmaker, Steven Caple Jr., being drafted in to helm the movie.

Still, the momentum Creed 2 is working off is more than enough to offset these roadblocks. The premise, which pits Creed against the son of Ivan Drago, sounds so ridiculous that it could totally work, especially if they manage to strike the same balance between nostalgia and original storytelling that made the previous movie so compelling.
