20 Movies That Will Kick Ass In 2018

14. Eighth Grade

Eighth Grade
A24

On the surface, Eighth Grade doesn't look all that special. A coming-of-age movie about a 13 year old who has to deal with the trials and tribulations of modern life is a story that seemingly fills up the multiplexes every single summer, but Bo Burnham's take on that narrative is aiming to be the most truthful ever.

Currently sitting at a flawless 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, Eighth Grade has already taken the festival circuit by storm, being praised for its biting portrayal of teen life, warts and all. While anyone who actually remembers being 13 might agree that does sound like it could be incredibly bleak, it's clear that there's a huge heart to the film, and Burnham's unique comedic talents will no doubt wrap everything up in a hilarious bow.

Already its young lead Elsie Fisher is being heralded as one of the breakout stars of the year, with the movie set to be another hit for A24.
