20 Perfect Scenes In God-Awful Horror Movies
Too bad the filmmakers only pulled out the stops for ONE scene.

Even the biggest horror veterans can't deny the genre is filled with slashers, creature features, and found-footage indies that aren't up to standard. Time and time again, a promising frightfest has been ruined by shoddy writing, one-note characters, and amateur filmmaking.
With that said, even the blandest films the genre has to offer may contain one awesome scene. No matter how atrocious the rest of the feature is, there may be a spectacular kill, thrilling chase, or jaw-dropping twist that almost redeems it.
Just to be clear, we're not talking about sequences that are ironically enjoyable, like you'd expect to find in Troll 2 or Birdemic. Each entry on this list is so perfectly structured or shot, you'd swear it was from a horror classic if seen out of context.
In fact, these moments turned out so well, they may encourage viewers to check out the movies themselves. Although there's nothing stopping you from doing so, don't expect that same level of entertainment anywhere else in the film.
Though our lists tend to have ten entries, we managed to find 20 mesmerising scenes in otherwise woeful horrors.
20. "I'm Mellllllting" - Cube Zero

The reason why Cube was so enrapturing was because it gave very little away. Why are these strangers trapped in a gigantic labyrinth? Who built it? What is its true purpose? These questions are barely explored, urging viewers to fill in the blanks themselves.
And then Cube Zero ruined it all by explaining everything. And with its mundane characters and rote script, this prequel was a total misfire.
It's a massive shame, since the grotesquely riveting prologue implies the next 90 minutes will be gripping. Cube Zero begins with a prisoner called Ryjkin awakening inside a cube-shaped prison filled with booby traps. As he enters the adjacent room, he's sprayed by an unknown liquid.
Ryjkin screams in terror, assuming the liquid is harmful. But after a moment, he realises he's sustained no injuries.
Or so it appears. While studying his hands, he notices his skin is peeling, indicating the spray is a slow-acting acid. As he viciously scratches at his hands, the skin falls off, exposing his bones and muscles.
In a panic, he grabs his face, ripping the skin off in the process. As blood oozes from the bottom of his trousers, it's clear his body is melting from the inside.
As he lets out one last scream, the poor prisoner dissolves into a pile of bloody slop on the floor.
Gross.
