20 Predictions For 2018's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
12. Pacific Rim Uprising (44%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "The presence of Guillermo del Toro is sorely missed in this occasionally thrilling but mostly generic monster movie whose cheesy thrills don't always compensate for a lack of new ideas."
It would be a total shocker if the sequel to Pacific Rim topped the original's fairly generous 71% score, especially as the budget's a whole $40 million smaller, original director Guillermo del Toro is merely serving as its producer, and Ron Perlman isn't even in it.
Plus, TV director Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) has never helmed a film before, let alone a big-budget one, and what's been shown off so far suggests a dumb, forgettable action flick without any of the original movie's charm.
