20 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores

Predicted Critical Consensus: "Introducing terrific new characters and a welcome period setting to the Potter-verse, Fantastic Beasts is a superior adventure movie that excels on every level."

Though this is a fairly transparent attempt to milk the Harry Potter franchise for a few more billion dollars (what with a Fantastic Beasts trilogy already confirmed to be in the works), it looks like David Yates is at least directing the hell out of it so far.

Plus, Eddie Redmayne is a terrific choice for the lead, the supporting cast (Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Samantha Morton and more) is amazing, and it's even being written by J.K. Rowling herself.

Potter never managed to rack up the Oscar love its fans hoped for, but perhaps the period setting and outright classiness we're seeing here might push Beasts over the top. Even if not, expect rave reviews all the way and a ton of people complaining about it getting shut out.
