18. Snowden (53%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Oliver Stone's usual excesses result in a middling treatment of a fascinating true story, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's casting as the title subject is only intermittently successful."
Oliver Stone is immensely hit-and-miss as a filmmaker, as evidenced by the fact that he's only had one critically Fresh film over the last decade (World Trade Center), and honestly, doesn't this feel like it's coming a little too soon after the Snowden scandal, considering we're still feeling the fallout?
Though it's got a stacked cast including Shailene Woodley, Nicolas Cage and Melissa Leo, Gordon-Levitt is all kinds of wrong for the lead part, and though he could overcome that as he did in last year's The Walk, it's always best to expect a middle-of-the-road effort when it comes to Stone.
You might just want to stick to Laura Poitras' excellent documentary Citizenfour instead.
